Windows 10 PC and Xbox One Are Getting DTS:X Soon

DTS:X, the object-based surround sound format by DTS, will soon be available on Windows 10 PC and Xbox One as announced via Twitter by Steven Wilssens, Principal Program Manager Lead at Microsoft for Audio, xCloud, GameDVR & Broadcast, CAST.
We also have DTS:X coming to PC and Xbox in the coming weeks. It will be available to the PC Insider audience first and then move to Xbox. Once any issues have been ironed out, they will move to the PC and Xbox audiences that are on retail builds.
Truth to be told, a DTS:X Ultra app has been listed on the Microsoft Store for several weeks now, though it cannot be actually downloaded yet.
The page includes some screenshots of the app, which provide a bit of information on what we can expect. There’s a ‘Content Mode’ selection (Automatic, Music, Voice, Movies, Strategy, RPG, Shooter and Custom Audio). If you pick Custom Audio, you can then select a Spatial Model between Entertainment, Games and Traditional, and there are separate options for Treble Enhancement, Bass Boost, Dialogue Clarity and Mouse Smoothing. It is currently unclear whether DTS:X will be free or premium.
Welssens also revealed that the other object-based surround sound format, Dolby Atmos, already available on both Windows 10 PC and Xbox One, is getting several improvements soon. As a reminder, Dolby Atmos for Home Theaters is free while Dolby Atmos for Headphones will require you to pay a one-time fee of $14.99 after a free month of trial.
We have some great enhancements coming to Dolby Atmos on PC and Xbox One. Including enablement of enhancements (PC & XB1), laptop speakers (PC), customization (PC & x XB1), and Dolby Atmos upmixing for legacy channel based content with home receivers (Xbox).
The Dolby Access app update will go out to the PC Insider audience first, and then we will flight it to insiders on Xbox. Pretty excited!
There’s also a free alternative called Windows Sonic, on both Windows 10 PC and Xbox One.

Denuvo Anti Tamper Missing from Resident Evil 7

Big news coming from Capcom company. Capcom has  removed  this controversial anti-tamper tech from Resident Evil 7, After the release of Resident Evil 2 Remake.      Although we don’t know the reasons behind this removal,  Resident Evil 7’s Steam store page  has also been updated in order to reflect this change (similarly to Resident Evil 2 Remake, Resident Evil 7’s page listed Denuvo on the right).     Still, this is great news for those that wanted to play Resident Evil 7 but were put off by the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. Not only that, but it will be interesting – at least for some – to test the Denuvo and the Denuvo-free versions of the game (though I don’t expect any major performance differences between them as this particular game wasn’t CPU-bound).      From the looks of it, Capcom is using Denuvo only to secure the sales of its games for their first year and is willing to remove it afterwards. As such, it will be interesting to see whether Capcom will remove Denuv
